Vive la cinéma!

Local cinephile Sara Jackson shares her Cannes experience

By Sara Jackson

To call me a cinephile is perhaps an understatement. Since I was a very young child, I have loved that moment when the lights in a movie theater begin to dim, when the whispers and chatter begin to fade, and the flickering lights on the screen dance with images new and old, comedic and tragic, potent and pointless. There is magic in film – it is life, but writ large and coated in celluloid.
