Top 10 Most Wanted Businesses spots wide open

By Connie Haas Zuber

Have you voted yet? Or again? (You can vote once a day, you know ... ) The contest for those 10 coveted spots is still very much open after hundreds of votes counted. You can vote once a day through midnight Aug. 31. The poll link is on the Fort Wayne Monthly home page.

We are wrapping up the next-to-last week of the Top 10 Most Wanted Businesses readers poll (results will be in the October Fort Wayne Monthly), and the only thing that's certain is that Trader Joe's will definitely be in the Top 10. A tip of the hat to the Trader Joe's folks. They vote!

Otherwise ...

IKEA and PF Chang are duking it out with Trader Joe's for the top spot — so far at least. Do you sense a challenge, Trader Joe's people?

Five more businesses — Whole Foods, Cheesecake Factory, Apple store, Pottery Barn and Nordstrom — could easily challenge the top spots and certainly secure a Top 10 placing with another good vote push.

On the bubble, so to speak, are another 10 businesses with a good chance at a Top 10 spot. If people just vote for them! If you're a fan of any of these businesses, now's the time to vote: DSW, Cabela's, Container Store, Scotty's Brewhouse, Buca Di Beppo, REI, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Dave & Buster's, Anthropologie, Jamba Juice.

Our dark horse didn't even show up in the voting until nearly the second week: Bass Pro Shops. It has a chance at the Top 10, too, if enough people vote for it.

Thanks for your participation (so far!) in this fun readers poll. Keep voting, and we'll keep counting. May the most fascinating businesses win!
