What kind of orchestra music director would leave an entire concert program blank?
One like Fort Wayne Philharmonic Music Director Andrew Constantine, whose boundless faith in his audience inspired him to leave the March 3, 2012, concert program open so that local music fans (that's us!) can choose the compositions to be performed. He calls it Audience Choice, and it's a democratic process that has just begun with open voting on favorite composers, from whose works the actual music to be performed will be chosen in two final rounds of voting.
A little fuzzy on your favorite composers? Not a problem. A link from the contest voting page will take you to The Phil's website, where Andrew's Quick Bios (that's the phrase to look for. It's the link) await you, along with samples from each composer's oeuvre. Then you can link back and cast your votes. Complete rules are at the contest site.
Find the contest by clicking on the Audience Choice graphic on Fort Wayne Monthly's home page.
And vote! When have you ever enjoyed the power to create a symphony concert program before?
